Cultural week of Flamenco

Flamenco has a great prestige in Palma del Rio. La Peña Flamenca “La Soleá” is a place where it has been celebrated annually the Cultural week of Flamenco for more tan thirty years. It is performed by the most popular cantaores and flamenco guitarists. This event takes place the fourth week of February.

Spring (February – March)

Orange party

Every year during March and April, Palma del Río prepares a lot of activities related to the oranges in order to celebrate, the most important citrus crop in the world. We are proud of being represented by the singular orange of Palma del Río.

During the days in which this festival is celebrated, schools are invited to come to our factories. Some games are prepared for children, for example there is a drawing contest “La Naranja y la Huerta“, in which more than 1.200 children of different ages participate, we also have “Journals of gastronomy, visits to “Pagos de Huerta” and many other activities in our town. The spring flowers have bloomed and the smell of citrus blossom or “Azahar” is everywhere. Our oranges and streets are covered by the white colour of this natural perfume “Azahar”.

March – April

Bloom Fest

It is an annual spring festival celebrated by young people. It main objective is to develop a range of young proposals but also activities which are being developed by Young Associations and the Town Hall. It includes different activities such as concerts, stall, Holi fest, sport activities and arts and crafts and informative spaces.

Book Fair

Book Fair is one of the main activities organized in Palma del Río. The main objective is to feel, learn, enjoy and imagine the way in which each person perceives the pleasure of reading. We especially like it because it is something different and cultural. Authors and readers get together for socializing and talking about their experiences and opinions about books.

Therefore, it is a marketplace for the sale and distribution of books. It is usually celebrated in April.

Jumping horse race 5 stars

It is celebrated in May in the equitation centre “La Herradura”. It holds the top riders of our country with their horses showing us their skills in hurdles.

Tennis Open

Our sport centre El Pandero will celebrate “The Open Cruzcampo Ciudad de Palma del Río” in June. It is the fifth national men’s tournaments. The first is “El Master 1000 de Madrid”, the second “El Open de Barcelona” (Conde de Godo), “El torneo de Copa Sevilla” and “El Espinar”.

This competition is included in “el Circuito de Futures” and it counts to ATP. The total prize money ranges from 15.000 to 25.000 dollars and the accommodation.

Players from different countries come to play and have a good time offering a rich experience for players and spectator alike.

South Theatre Fair

Palma del Río annually celebrates the South Theatre Fair. It is the perfect place for the Andalusian performing arts and is known as a meeting point for professionals in the theatre since 1984. Exhibition production and discussion of current theatre is held here.

Palma del Río becomes a huge stage, its streets and squares are transformed to hold unique Fair of comedians. The magic of theatre, the spectator who come from different places and the summer nights are some of the special ingredients to enjoy a sensorial experience, living and feeling all the emotions that this wonderful Fair will give you.

Milla Urbana

It takes place on the 8th of September. Milla Urbana celebrates its 25th anniversary. This race attracts those who want to enjoy an amazing experience in running. The usual route is around 1609 metres throughout its city centre.

This is a good option to enjoy the cultural and sportive activities in Palma del Río.

Disoñamos

It is annually held in September. It is organized by the cultural association of Disoñamos and you will see most of the famous fashion designers of our town. It is an annual meeting of unique handmade clothing and fashion accessories, arts and crafts which combine traditional elements with innovation and online marketing. Many designers come from other places to enjoy it.

Aeromodelling Festival

It is a real show for the spectator. It is the best aeromodelling festival of Spain and it has been evaluated at the international level. Pilots of different nationalities meet the fourth weekend of September in FAASA headquarters to see a wonderful exhibition of model planes.

The Festival of Three Cultures

The Festival of three cultures takes place at the beginning of October and it is celebrated in the almohade wall enclosure. This festival is a medieval reproduction which brings together the influences of these three cultures with a festival of food music, art and street entertainment with horses, royal standards and soldiers. Moors, Jews and Christians live together during three days to show the best of these cultures.

International tournament of Karate

The international tournament of karate is held in the month of October. It is part of the national program of sports technology for the Royal Spanish karate Federation holds in Palma del Río and it is part of the worldwide project which takes place in our country.

It is organized by the Andalusian karate Federation and the Kime Club in Palma del Rio which is preparing for the international championships, cadet, junior and sub21.

Titiripalma

The municipal culture board of Palma del Rio in association with the cultural association El Diablo, Cojuelo organizes Titiripalma, an international festival of puppet shows and objects which is celebrated around the month of November every year. You will have the opportunity to enjoy this spectacular show with your family because it has a clear didactic function.

Santa Cecilia

It is a choral festival of Palma del Río which is held in the month of November (Saint Cecilia’s day). It is a choral activity which is based on chorals local meeting with the participation of chorales from other cities. This wonderful festival is part of palmeña cultural “Choral Association Eloy Viro”.

Popular Race of Palma del Río

It is held the 6th December (Constitution Day). This event will serve you to discover the most beautiful places of our city. It is known as one of the oldest races of our surroundings where children play an important role.
